A Story I Tell*
I Haven't Moved
There is a cartoon strip called "The Born Loser"** in which the main character is always getting the short end of the stick. No matter what he does, he invariably loses.
The cartoon is a single frame in the daily newspaper. However, in the Sunday newspaper it is a full comic strip, of which the first frame is a picture of the the "family crest.".
The shield is divided into four sections, containing:
|
|
- Broken flush (hand of cards)
|
|
Only very, very rarely does the Born Loser even come close to winning.
I remember the gist of one such episode in particular.
The Born Loser is driving the car. His wife is sitting next to the passenger side door.
"Back when we were courting," she says, "we use to sit a lot closer."
"Well, I haven't moved," he replies.
