A Story I Remember*
Gentlemen, Your Were Late
In his book, "Tale of the Blue Horse and other Million Dollar Adventurers," Stanley Norman Arnold tells about when he was a consultant for United Airlines. Arnold had an office in New York City. United Airlines had its headquarters in Chicago, adjacent to the airport.
Whenever it was necessary for Arnold to fly to Chicago to meet with United Airline executives, he would schedule the meeting to begin 15 minutes after the planned arrival time of his United flight from New York.
Never once was Arnold embarrassed about arriving behind schedule, and walking in the middle of the meeting saying, "Gentlemen, you were late."
